Kari Walton, Founder & Executive Director

Prairie Music & Arts

Feb 01, 2022 7:15 AM

 https://zoom.us/j/964291657

Kari Walton is the founder and Executive Director of Prairie Music & Arts. She has degrees in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Lawrence University and the University of Louisville and has taught music from early childhood to adults for over thirty years. She has led Prairie Music & Arts since 1999 and manages general operations, program development, fundraising, and outreach. A belief that the arts should be accessible to all, she has created grant projects and partnerships that have served youth with artistic experiences throughout the Dane County area.

It was during her time as a high school student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts that Kari experienced the interconnectedness of the arts. In her words, “I was fortunate to experience musicians and artists from around the world who greatly shaped my teaching and approach to the arts. Whether it’s learning a musical instrument, drawing a picture, or taking part in a play, the arts fill us up as human beings, connect us, and give us the means to express ourselves. It is my hope that Prairie Music & Arts will offer our community positive and holistic moments for artistic exploration, personal growth, and collaboration.”

Sun Prairie Explore Children’s Museum

Apr 12, 2022 7:15 AM

 https://zoom.us/j/964291657

I have a Masters in Special Education, with a teaching certification in special and general education. I was a teacher at Sun Prairie High School and pre-pandemic I was a preschool teacher at Sun Prairie Nursery School. My husband and I have four young children and truly feel that we have found a fantastic city to raise our family in.

I am thrilled to be a part of bringing a children’s museum to Sun Prairie. Children’s museums are built to spark children’s imaginations, allow them to follow their passions and discover new passions, a place where children can show us how they play and in doing so, how their brains are developing. The Explore Children’s Museum will be a community hub; a place for families to enjoy one another, expand and explore their knowledge, develop skills and connect with their community and the world around them.
