Service Above Self winners are Andy and Chris Stiefel, Neil Stechschulte and Jeff Gauger.  The youth winner is Jordan Stiefel. Thank you to everyone who voted.  We will be presenting their awards at the June 3 meeting.

This week Nancy Spelsberg spoke about her venture as a small business owner.  She bought the Deerfield private carrier company BCP in 2011 and grew it from 4 trucks to their current 76 trucks and 98 employees.  Nancy offered practical information about becoming a successful business owner. Among her advice is to have a business plan, don't be blind to your weakness', regularly review your plan and goals and, most importantly, treat your employees well.

Other news from the meeting:

  • Rich Darga asked for volunteers for the Adopt a Highway cleanup on the morning of June 7.  Let Rich know if you are available to help out.
  • Jim Amstadt is our new Kwik Trip card coordinator.  Members were asked to provide an estimate of the amount they would purchase in a month to give us an idea of what we need to order.  Let Jim know if you are interested in purchasing these cards so we can get an accurate amount.  The cards can be used for anything bought at Kwik Trip - gas, groceries and bananas!
  • Carl Olson reminded everyone to keep promoting the golf tournament on June 19.  Sponsorships, foursomes and prizes are still needed.

Join us on Tuesday, May 27 for the annual SPICE banquet.  We will start the morning at 7:30 a.m. for the new member orientation at 7:30 a.m. and then we will have our meeting at 8:10.  The 5th graders will arrive around 8:30 to join us for breakfast and a short program.

Please note:  The Colonial Club parking lot is being repaved and will be closed on Tuesday, May 27. You will need to park on the street. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!  Have a great holiday weekend.
